Safe Quarters

Safe Quarters is Friendship Home’s largest fundraising event of the year! Funds collected during this one-day event provide survivors served at Friendship Home with safe, confidential shelter, crisis services, and ongoing support for families who are rebuilding their lives free from violence. Safe Quarters is vital to Friendship Home’s doors remaining open to those in need.

During Safe Quarters, hundreds of dedicated volunteers go door-to-door collecting financial contributions and handing out awareness materials to households in Lincoln and neighboring communities. Volunteers are noticeable as they wear special Safe Quarters shirts, carry collection totes, and hold informational materials about Friendship Home and domestic violence.

The support of the entire community is needed for Safe Quarters to be a success. Your participation as a donor, volunteer, or team captain will help end the cycle of violence in the lives of those in our community.

Becoming a Team Captain is simple:

• You can register to be a Team Captain using the form below. Provide your team’s name, contact information, and the neighborhood/area of Lincoln you would like to walk.
• Gather a team of 5 to 15 of your family, friends, neighbors or colleagues, all ages are welcome!
• Submit the names and contact information for all your team members.
• Pick up supplies for your team including, t-shirts, neighborhood maps, and informational materials about Friendship Home to distribute throughout your assigned area on Sunday, October 13^th from 12:00-5:00 pm.
• Return your team’s collected donations by 5:00 pm at Union Adventist University (formally Union College). Please invite team members and donors to help us celebrate! Celebrations will be from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Do you want to make an impact on Safe Quarters but are unable to join a walking team on Sunday, October 13th? Become a Safe Quarters Digital Team Captain!

This virtual fundraising option furthers Safe Quarters reach, raising varying amounts of money from a wider network of people. Crowdfunding pages will allow individuals and teams to raise money for the ENTIRE month of October, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Registration opens September 1st. 

Being a Digital Team Captain is easy!  Just sign up and we will provide you with talking points, statistics and more so you can confidently ask your closest friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to donate to your personalized online crowdfunding page.

Not able to walk? We have a variety of volunteer opportunities leading up to Safe Quarters and the day of, such as preparing team materials, folding t-shirts, calling volunteers, and more.
