On September 10, Friendship Home will participate once again in the annual Domestic Violence Counts survey, conducted by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV).
This is a nationwide, one-day survey of domestic violence programs and shelters, which counts the number of survivors seeking services and/or shelter within a 24-hour period. The results provide a powerful snapshot of the work happening across the country to support survivors of domestic violence.
This survey matters. Last year, 79,000 survivors nationwide received services on this single day. In Nebraska, 227 adults and children found shelter, and of those, 133 were sheltered by Friendship Home, making up 58.6% of the state’s total.
These reports allow organizations like ours to share the reality of survivors’ needs with community funders, media, and legislators, ensuring that support and resources remain available.
We are proud to stand alongside programs across the country as we take part in this year’s DV Counts survey, and we are grateful for your ongoing support that makes this work possible.
